We love our gadgets to bits, that is why we're pleased Samsung has just launched another that should get the Pinoy geek's attention. Ladies and gents, here's the Galaxy Tab 2, an Android device which, surprisingly and fortunately enough, sports a price tag that won't make your wallet weep.
The latest in a line of devices succeeding the granddaddy of Sammy's tablets, the Galaxy Tab, the Galaxy Tab 2 comes in two screen sizes: 7 inches and 10.1 inches. As expected, each model comes with the latest version of Google's mobile OS. Aside from that, here's what they have to offer.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0)
The smaller of the pair in terms of size, the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 boasts a 7-inch touchscreen and 16GB internal storage. Running the show for this one is the combo of a dual-core 1GHz chip and 1GB of RAM, telling us it has some power under the hood, too. There's also wireless connectivity via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as well as a pair of cameras (3.15-megapixel main, VGA secondary).
And here's something really interesting---it can make calls and texts, too! Well, at least there's a variant that can. A 3G+Wi-Fi 7-inch model is also available for the taking although obviously you'll have to pay a bit more for it. Speaking of which, the Wi-Fi-only variant costs just P12,990 while its 3G-enhanced partner goes for P4,000 more.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1)
And now we have the kuya of the pair, the 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 2. Hardware-wise, the device sports practically the same looks and specs as its smaller bro except for a larger screen. It also boasts a larger battery to support the added eye-candy it will display. The good news is it has built-in 3G connectivity with phone functionality letting you use the device like a giant handset.
With its larger size comes a larger price tag. The 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 2 will set you back P21,990. More expensive, yes, but compared to the other tablets out there, it's still significantly cheaper, something that gets a thumbs up from us! Check out the specs-list below.
