It's a great time to be a fan of Nintendo's Super Mario.

The NES original, Super Mario Bros., is celebrating its 30th anniversary this weekend, having been released on September 13, 1985. For '80s kids, it was simply THE GAME to have. Thirty years later, Mario's charms haven't waned, and remains a beloved character in his many outings in Nintendo's long line of consoles.

The second reason? The franchise is also seeing the release of Super Mario Maker for the Wii U today, September 11. For every Filipino who once drew Super Mario levels on paper while in school, a game that allows you to build your own Super Mario levels is a dream come true

Last but not the least, Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto also answered a few important questions about Super Mario such as "Is Super Mario Bros. 3 just a staged play?" and "Does Mario really destroy blocks with his fist?"
