And, as expected, Sony Mobile has launched its newest babies from its Android brood, the Xperia S, Xperia P, Xperia U, and sola, here in the Philippines. These are actually the first Xperias that will be coming to local stores since Sony and Ericsson parted ways earlier this year. Anyway, we're not here to discuss broken bridges so, let's get to know each handset better now, shall we?
Sony Xperia U
Deemed as the runt of the bunch coming with the smallest display at "just" 3.5 inches, the Xperia U sports a dual-core 1GHz CPU that comes with 512MB of RAM. Aside from that, this one has dual-cameras with the main 5-megapixel shooter (VGA secondary) able to record in HD and capture 2D and 3D panoramic images. Its screen also sports Sony's own Reality Display technology powered by the mobile Bravia engine. To add a bit of flare to the whole package, the Xperia U comes with a transparent strip that lights up to match the, say, photos you have in your gallery. Also, its bottom part is user-replaceable and is available in different colors
Sony Xperia P
The Xperia P is the mid-level entry in the group and features what is called WhiteMagic display tech to help deliver a better, brighter viewing experience even under direct sunlight. It packs a 4-inch Reality Display screen, an 8-megapixel camera with HD recording and the same 2D and 3D panoramic image capture found in the Xperia U, and an aluminum unibody design. The combo of a 1GHz dual-core CPU and 1GB of RAM will run things on this baby while a secondary VGA camera can be found up front for video calls.
Sony Xperia S
Now this right here is Sony's newest flagship. We've actually had our hands-on session with the device and found out that it's one speedy mobile multimedia powerhouse. It sports a 4.3-inch HD touchscreen (1280 x 720 resolution) that we found to be a joy in terms of viewing photos and videos. The imaging department is taken cared of by a 12-megapixel main camera with autofocus and 1080p HD recording. There's also a 1.3-megapixel secondary shooter which can capture vids in 720p HD. The Xperia S also has DLNA capability, an HDMI port, and NFC (near field communication) making it one of the select few to have the feature here. In line with this, the device comes with two Xperia SmartTags which allows for content-sharing between users as well as access to NFC apps and services.
