By all indications, Starmobile had a stellar (pun shamelessly intended) 2013. From releasing quad-core goodies to going full unkabogable mode (read: getting Vice Ganda as endorser), they really hit it up last year.
And it looks like the brand wants to continue its starry run by starting 2014 with a bang. Check out their latest creation, the Diamond X1, below:
"What up with this phone?" you ask? Aside from looking all snazzy, it's the first octa-core smartphone to be launched by a local brand! Yes, fellas! Because four cores seemingly aren't enough, here's one with eight freakin' cores! Yowzah!
Here's another look at this processing beast:
Aside from having an octa-core processor, the Diamond X1 also packs 2GB of RAM. The combo is expected to make mincemeat out of your mobile chores so please, let's use it for more than just taking selfies.
Speaking of selfies, the Diamond X1 has an 18-megapixel (yes, 18!) camera and a huge-ass 6-inch touchscreen! All that in a package that's just 7mm thick!
Let us clarify though that the Diamond X1 isn't the first octa-core phone in the world. Other octa-core bad boys like the Samsung Galaxy S4 (the Exynos variant sold in other regions) have mesmerized geeks before. Still, the Diamond X1 is certainly a huge achievement, especially for a local brand.
No word on pricing and availability yet although we're sure it's going to land on Starmobile store shelves very soon. And since it's from we're-the-kings-of-affordable-handhelds Starmobile, it won't be that expensive (well, we hope). Under P15,000, perhaps? Make it happen, SM!
