Step aside Transformers, Gundams, and Jaegers. The real thing is here courtesy of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.
Bezos showed off their project called the Method-2 in the annual Machine learning, home Automation, Robotics and Space exploration (MARS) conference over the weekend.
The Method-2 is a humanoid robot created by Korean company Hankook Mirae Technology that stands 13 feet tall and can be manually controlled through the cockpit located in its torso.
During the event, the Amazon head honcho hopped inside the Method-2’s cockpit and showcased its robotic arm control while also finding time to crack a joke.
The demonstration was pretty short and there wasn’t much to show aside from the arm controls but it gave us a glimpse of what the future holds in terms of humans piloting giant robots.
An earlier video last December also shows the Method-2 with a demonstration of it walking and doing the same arm movements.
Now it’s still far from being fully functional, more so being mass produced but we just hope that we can use this technology someday to make the world a better place.
