WTF: New fragrance lets you smell like a freshly unboxed MacBook Pro

Because other scents are too mainstream

Quick question, Apple fans! How far would you go to proclaim your love and support to Tim Cook and co.'s products? Would you be willing to smell like one? We're guessing no but, if you have a different answer in mind, then here's something for you. A new fragrance has been created to mimic the scent of a freshly unboxed MacBook Pro! Wait, what?

Conjured by the guys over at Air Aroma which states that a "distinctive scent can be observed when unwrapping a newly purchased Apple product from its packaging," the fragrance will remind you of "the plastic wrap covering the box, printed ink on the cardboard, the smell of paper and plastic components within the box and of course the aluminum laptop.” We're thinking Apple's loyal patrons are familiar with that one. However, for those who are thinking of trying it out, the scent will not be available for purchase and was developed only for use at the De facto Standard exhibit in Melbourne, Australia. That's for good reason we guess. We're betting even the die-hard Apple fans will think twice of spilling it on themselves and smelling like a walking, talking MacBook Pro. That would be a tad creepy, no?

We'll be filing this in the "novelty items that won't go mainstream" bin. Still, we couldn't help but think what would happen if someone did use it before going to, say, a date. Will he/she crash and burn? On a slightly related note, there's this dating site made for Apple fans. Who knows? Maybe there would be a few members there that would find the MacBook Pro scent appealing. In the meantime, you could check out the gallery below for other 'WTF 'stories we've reported about before.
