Diablo III cinematic trailer: a peek at things to come...

Yep, you read that right, your eyes are not deceiving you and no, this is not a premature April Fool's prank. After all the delays, juicy sneak peeks and over a decade of waiting, Blizzard has finally announced an official release date for Diablo III! The D-Day? May 15 or only about a couple of months away! Yipee! Forgive us for sounding a tad too excited, we here at Techie are huge, huge fans of the game, and we won't be surprised if you are, too.

For all those fearing the date won't include us here in the Philippines (as with many other international tech releases), the good news is May 15 covers the US, Canada, Europe, South Korea, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau so that most probably means that we are. Now, if you want to get first servings of the game ASAP, a pre-order page has been put up. The download will cost you about $60 (P2,580) and will include only the game's installer. You can now DL the game although you won't be able to play it until May 15 when the servers are activated since Diablo III will be played all online which also means you need an active Internet connection for it.

There will also be a boxed release with the same SRP as the digital download version as well as a Collector's Edition that will go for about $100 (P4,300) and have more content. We've already gotten our hands on the Beta version of the game and, although it's only up to Act I, we can safely say that it has the potential to walk in the same route as its popular predecessors. It will be full of hack-and-slash action (as expected), has improved gaming eye-candy, as well as a "darker, more sinister" feel to it that should help keep players immersed in the plot and the action. Players will also be able to choose from 5 character classes (Witch Doctor, Barbarian, Wizard, Demon Hunter and Monk).

So there, the wait will soon end. Evil will again rise from the pits of hell, forcing the realm to hope for that singular champion (you) to wield a sword, master spells and rise up and challenge The Evils. But then again, you won't be able to do so if your rig isn't built for the fight so, we recommend taking a peek at the system requirements bellow.
