Remember the young Toguro from Yuyu Hakusho (locally known as Ghost Fighter) from your childhood? Well, his character just got a new live action commercial.
The muscular ‘90s anime antagonist appears in a short video ad with elder Toguro (Naoki Matayoshi) and an all new character called big sister Toguro (Oniyakko Tsubaki).
We don’t want to break your hearts, but unfortunately for the fans, the ad isn’t a trailer for a long overdue live action movie of Yuyu Hakusho.
However, we have to admit that Matayoshi fits the bill well as elder Toguro. The young Toguro on the other hand is actually a statue, but its lifelike appearance almost got us good.
According to Anime News Network, the Toguros are promoting a Yuyu Hakusho and Monster Strike mobile game collaboration in this commercial.
So far, the video now has nearly half a million views.
Here’s to hoping that a fan resurgence for the popular hit anime would translate to a live action film in the same vein of the Rurouni Kenshin trilogy.
For now, let comedian Tsubaki a.k.a big sister Toguro take you back to a more blissful time with her rendition of Yuyu Hakusho’s opening theme, “Hohoemi no Bakudan” (Bomb of Smiles).
