Nike is slated to rerelease the original "Royal Blue" Air Foamposite One colorway that Hardaway made big in the '90s.
Designed by Eric Avar, the Air Foamposite One was first introduced in 1997 and boasted the never-before-seen trademark seamless molded polyurethane tech.
Still injury-free at that time, Hardaway was projected by Avar as the prefect athlete to the model the Posite and its full capabilities. Good thing the 6-foot-7 Magic point guard instantly fell in love with it.
"I wasn't sure I was even going to show that sample to him. We had other ideas we were presenting," he told Nike News. "But he leaned over, looked into the bag and said, 'What is that?' He reached in, grabbed it and he says, 'This is my next shoe!'"
The Air Foamposite One turned out to be one of the Swoosh brand's flagship designs, and despite Hardaway's fragile basketball career not quite panning out as expected, the deal created an iconic bond between him and the shoe.
According to @zSneakerHeadz, Nike, for the first time since 2011, will bring back the throwback pair in January 2017, retailing at $230 (around P11,000).
