Okay, so we did a little bit of research because, as witnessed in the Doc Rivers switcharoo situation, it turns out that NBA trades aren't exclusive to players and draft rights. Were you all aware this was even possible?
Although the rules under the new Collective Bargaining Agreement between the NBA and its players suggest that trade deals involving players and coaches aren't allowed, teams have the option of purchasing or acquiring existing contracts from other clubs. In hindsight, Los Angeles will take over Doc's contract in Boston, while also sending them a first round pick on a "separate deal." Anlabo!
Since ball clubs are pretty much giving away coaches now anyways, we might as well suggest a list of horrendous stuff about the NBA that league officials should swap away for good. We have a few of 'em in mind at the moment, but y'all are welcome to contribute in our comments section below!
