Bb. Pilipinas beauty Venus Raj has conquered this year’s Miss Universe pageant in more ways than a 4th runner-up should.

For one, the woman is coming from a long journey to the title, losing her Bb. Pilipinas crown early on only to regain it in the process. She’s also had an emotional week due to the recent loss of mentor and former beauty queen Melody Gersbach.

Come competition, Venus became the first Pinay in 11 years to capture a place in this competition. Raj also received the highest rating among all candidates, garnering a score of 3.54 points.

She was the sole contestant from an Asian country to secure a place in the Top 15 semi-finals, and when Venus’ name was called the last into the final five, everybody knew what just happened was something truly special.

Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrete would go on to win the Miss Universe Pageant yet Venus Raj is certainly the Cinderella story of this year’s festivities.

But this pageant being Miss Universe, it would be impossible not to take notice of the beauties coming from other nations. In fact, five other gorgeous women from around the globe duly caught our fancy this year:
