It’s Friday night and we just got our paychecks, which means…#alamna! But before you go partying like there’s no tomorrow, here’s something you oughta know.

According to the monthly tally of the Department of Health (DOH) released yesterday, the number of HIV-positive cases in the country has reached an all-time high! A total of 498 new cases were recorded last March, the highest so far. Ninety-five percent of these cases were males, 58-percent of which belong to the 20-29 age group.

"Nah, I’m perfectly healthy and always protected," you say? Well, 90-percent of these cases were asymptomatic, meaning they did not exhibit any signs of being infected as it took years for the symptoms to show. Scary!

The good news is that the DOH is giving away free condoms to all bars, massage centers, and KTVs in Quezon City, where the highest number has been recorded. Then, for the young ones, there's also the more comprehensive and updated sexual health education mandated by the new Reproductive Health Law.

But how about you “young once”? Well, for everyone who needs an STD 101 refresher course, below is a handy infographic from thedailyinfographic.com!
