The driver of the Joanna Jesh bus shown plowing through orange barriers along EDSA in a viral video is in danger of losing his job.
Joanna Jesh Transport Corp. Operations Manager Jakes Duyangco said they will "most likely" fire driver Ruel Labin for his reckless actions on the road, GMA News Online reported.
Aside from being fired, Labin's professional license is also in danger after the Land Transportation Office said it was considering revoking it.
LTO Spokesman Jason Salvador said the video was evidence enough pointing to Labin's reckless driving behavior that can put his and others' lives at risk.
However, Labin, who faced the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in a hearing on Wednesday, repeatedly denied that he was a reckless driver.
He reasoned out that he was only driving at a speed of 40 to 45 kph, adding that the incident was the result of him trying to avoid crashing into another passenger bus.
Labin also denied trying to escape saying that he even went back to where the incident occurred and helped in rearranging the plastic barriers.
He is currently serving a 30-day suspension pending an internal investigation by the bus company.
