We've all criticized a presidential candidate. One Facebook user, though, went as far as betting 5 million pesos worth of cakes if Rodrigo Duterte is declared the winner. He goes by the name Eliaquim Labang, an international chef and owner of Quim's Cake Bakeshop and Café.
Prior to the polls, he wrote this on his Facebook page: "Pag manalo si Duterte manok nyo guys, gagawa ako ng maraming cakes pinakamasarap sa cakes sa Pilipinas worth 5 milyon para ipakain for free siguraduhin nio lang manalo sya. mark my word."
Labang also called the tough talking mayor a big liar and even challenged him to a fistfight.
"Kung gusto mo talaga mamuno sa bansa nasa puso mo, gusto mo, kaya mo, hwag mo gawing dahilan si Poe. Sabi hindi ka tatakbo. You’re a big liar. Hindi ka pa pangulo sinungaling ka na! Suntukan na lang tayo," his post reads.
Currently, Duterte leads the race with his nearest rivals, Mar Roxas and Grace Poe, having already conceded.
Now that we are just waiting for the official announcement that Duterte is the new Philippine president, netizens have demanded Labang to fulfill his promise.
There's also a Facebook event dubbed as "Libreng Cake Mula kay Chef Jack Labang" to be held on June 30, 1:00 p.m. As of writing, 29,000 confirmed they are going and 56,000 are interested in the event.
The chef denied organizing the event but said he will stay true to his promise "in honor of our new leaders."
To avail of free cake, you must like the Facebook page Quim's Cake Bakeshop and Café, send your name, age, address, and contact number to firstname.lastname@example.org and go to his shop at 38 Tomas Morato, Quezon City. The cake sampling will be held twice a month starting July 1 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, and will go on until 2017.
