Dammit, James Gandolfini is gone.

The veteran actor, who rose to fame via the HBO mafia series The Sopranos, died of a suspected heart attack earlier today, June 19, while on a vacation in Rome. He was 51. He is survived by wife Deborah Lin, their daughter, and a son from a previous relationship.

"He was a genius. Anyone who saw him even in the smallest of his performances knows that," says The Sopranos creator David Chase of Gandolfini, who won a Golden Globe and several Emmys for playing the role of perpetually agitated mob boss Tony Soprano. "He is one of the greatest actors of this or any time. A great deal of genius resided in those sad eyes." Post-Sopranos, James appeared in Killing Them Softly, Welcome to the Rileys, and Zero Dark Thirty, among others. Shame, shame.

But alas, Mr. Gandolfini would have wanted all of us to man up and not cry this one out. As a parting shot, here are 8 GIFs showing Tony Soprano at his meanest finest. Ciao, boss.
