Here we go again...

If you thought being unable to file his Certificate of Candidacy for president meant the end of the road for Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, then these dudes just proved you wrong.

Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) on Tuesday (October 27) passed a resolution nominating Duterte as its substitute candidate for current standard bearer Martin Diño in case the latter withdraws his candidacy or gets disqualified by the Commission on Elections.

"Wherefore, be it resolved, as it is hereby resolved, to substitute Martin ‘Bobot’ Diño in case he withdraws from the presidential race with Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte who is concededly the strongest presidential hopeful of the party aside from Martin 'Bobot' Diño, and who must dutifully abide by the decision of the party," the resolution read.

Despite the development, PDP-Laban ensured its full support to Diño's candidacy, even filing a resolution earlier about the matter. (Okay, sabi niyo eh.)

The decision, according to Region 6 interim president JV Hinlo, is their way of ensuring that their party will still be ably represented in the event their current standard bearer doesn't pan out. Although this doesn't mean Duterte can't say no to the nomination, which PDP-Laban also has a Plan B for.

"Our party president, Sen. Koko Pimentel, could become our third nominee. He’s qualified," exclaimed Hinlo. "What the party wants to impart as a message to the Filipino people is that PDP-Laban will not allow itself to be swept under the rug. We’ll participate in the 2016 elections."

Still, the party is aware of Duterte's clout, as compared to their two other contenders.

"We know that he (Duterte) is the strongest candidate among the nominees. He's stronger than Diño, stronger than Koko. Our chances of victory with the presidency are higher with Duterte. With Diño and Koko, we have to start all over again," Hinlo said.

As for the man called The Punisher, he said in an interview—days before the resolution was made—that he will "submit to whatever decision the party will make."

For now though, the crime-busting in Davao continues, with Duterte issuing a 48-hour ultimatum to drug pushers to leave his city lest be killed.

Tune in next time for developments in this ongoing political saga, or as netizens call it, #DuterteSerye...
