The spiritual advisor of Presumptive President Rodrigo Duterte revealed that there was one instance during the campaign period where the tough-talking mayor almost collapsed due to fatigue.
Pastor Apollo Quiboloy told GMA News that the sheer amount of campaigning that had to be done took a toll on Duterte’s health.
“In fact, si Mayor napaka-busy, 24 hours, na-collapse na nga halos may isang beses kaya nga alam natin ‘yung kinalalagyan niya ngayon na influx ng mga tao sa loob na gustong makipagkita sa kanya,” he said.
The incoming president for his part admitted that he took a much deserved break after the elections so he could recuperate.
“I had a long rest, and all along during the campaign, I was carrying this virus in me that causes my bronchial infection at nag-resume ako antibiotics for about five days bago ako pinayagan ng doctor na lumabas,” explained Digong.
The 71-year-old Duterte has previously been accused by a journalist to have some form of throat cancer which his camp denied.
Last February, he was rushed to a hospital after a bad case of migraine caused him to cancel a speaking engagement.
