The table for the 2016 national elections has been set.
Vice-President Jejomar Binay has been very vocal about his intention to become the 16th President of the Republic ever since we can remember. On the other hand, DILG Secretary Mar Roxas promises to continue the "tuwid na daan" as he finally got President Aquino's approval and the Liberal Party's blessing as their bet.
Last week, September 16, Senator Grace Poe declared her interest in running for the presidency, while her running mate, Senator Chiz Escudero, followed suit and announced his decision a day after, finalizing the Poe-Chiz tandem.
Now that all the major players are in place, the race for next year's elections is now revving up. The candidates are now waiting for February 2016 a.k.a. the official start of the campaign period.
Well, that's for the "official" campaigning, because as early as now, the local web's creative (and obviously bored) minds have been busy making hilarious politics-themed memes based on the candidates. And because we find them relevant and, yes, funny as heck, we scoured the Internet and picked out the funniest ones!
Memes lang po, ma'am/sir, walang pikunan!
Even the feisty Senyora Santibañez shares the same sentiment.
Well, senyora, maybe action movies won't suit her.
Some people would love to see a Grace Poe-Kiko Pangilinan pairing instead (you'll, uhm, hear why).
It's also a good thing when you can always ask someone with experience.
So how do you upgrade the Poe-Chiz tandem? Add dinuguan.
But dinuguan, erm, incumbent Vice-President Binay isn't really in good terms with Grace.
The veep made headlines recently when he got grilled by the students of UPLB when he dropped by the university for a symposium on governance. #BinayBwisitsUPLB.
Since you're here Jon, we might as well give you company:
Now, back to Mr. Binay, do you know that he looks good in a Boy Scout uniform?
Not only is he Mr. Boy Scout of the Philippines, he's also...
Go Team Binay?
Mar Roxas also wasn't spared by social media trolls.
For our non-Cebuaña-speaking friends, better google what buto means in Visayan dialect.
Since he's the current administration's bet, Roxas is definitely feeling the pressure. (Cue: Queen and David Bowie)
Suddenly, the #IpasokSiDick movement reappeared:
While others are turning for Willie Revillame for progress!
Now, if only we could find that Ely Pamatong for President poster from MRT's Quezon Avenue station.
