Rock icons, sporting success, and other epic performances!
It's back-to-school Monday which means two things: sucky Manila traffic will reach hellish proportions and scores of students and employees still in vacation mode wishing it's still Sunday.
Reality check: It's time to get our asses off the couch and ditch our lazy selves! To help you be on a more productive mindset, here's another serving of FHM's Best Of The Weekend, featuring a load of fresh stories that should perk you up big time!
MANILA CLASICO: Purefoods wins over Ginebra in an epic game of runs
Tim Cone and co. defeated Coach Frankie Lim's wards as the Purefoods Star Hotshots turned back Ginebra in a pulsating edition of the PBA's Manila Clasico last night at the Smart Araneta. The Hotshots actually led by as much as 19 in the first half, but the Kings' "never-say-die spirit" kicked in. Ginebra came roaring back and even led by six in the third quarter. However, Purefoods' poise and experience took over in the end and withstood the Kings' last-ditch fightback to eke out a hard-earned 89-82 win.
It was another sorry loss for Ginebra supporters, but it was a win for Pinoy basketball fans as a whole, thanks to the game being filled with plenty of highlight plays like these:

They're calling it "power over Wi-Fi" and it's been tested successfully, able to charge batteries wirelessly from as far away as 28 feet. FTW!
SUPER GROUP: Liam Gallagher puts up band with fellow rock icons

Liam Gallagher, the talented (and super controversial) former Oasis frontman, has just formed a new crew (name is still TBA) that's among the most star-studded the band world has seen in recent years. He'll be teaming up with Roger Daltrey of The Who, former Oasis drummer Zak Starkey, and Ian Broudie of popular British alternative rock act The Lightning Seeds. The bad news: Reports say this union is a one-time only affair and is for a rock performance that will air on June 12 via a British TV station. Can we please make this permanent?
CAN'T BEAT THE '90S (LITERALLY): Teens fail miserably at Contra
YouTube channel REACT has released a new video that shows a bunch of teens playing the popular '90s game Contra. Long story short: They generally suck at it.

GOOD GUY GROHL: Foo Fighters frontman invites artistic fan on stage
During a recent performance in Hamburg, Germany, Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters invited a super lucky young man to accompany him on the stage after spotting the fan's impressive portrait of the popular vocalist in the crowd.
Here's a goosebumps-inducing video of the warm gesture:

Can we now say that Dave Grohl is, indeed, the most awesomely likeable rock icon around?
SHOW-OFF: Floyd Mayweather makes it rain in Texas strip club
In news that will make you either envy or loathe (or both!) Floyd Mayweather even more, the boxing champ was seen making it rain in a strip club in Texas. How much "water" did he drop? Thirty five thousand dollars or almost P1.6 million.

As of this writing, the Philippines is at seventh place (6 gold, 9 silver, 15 bronze) in the medal tally. Go for (more) gold, Pinoy SEAG warriors!
CONVINCING: Melai becomes Miley, and wins!
Comedienne Melai Cantiveros became the first-ever winner of the hit ABS-CBN celebrity talent show Your Face Sounds Familiar, thanks to a flawless impersonation of the wrecking ball-ridin', sledgehammer-lickin' Miley Cyrus.
Here's her impressive performance:

Fullerton High School senior Fernando Rojas achieved something totally unheard of: get accepted in not one, not two, not three, but all Ivy League schools (read: the best of the best schools in the US of A). Yale University, Dartmouth College, Brown University, the University of Pennsylvania, Cornell University, Columbia University, Harvard University, and Princeton University all gave him a call saying that they want him. And here we are thinking just getting in one is already a dream come true!
DANGER: How to make your own ukelele flamethrower
The fire-spewin' flamethrower-guitar was certainly one of the highlights of the fast-paced, adrenaline-pumped movie Mad Max: Fury Road. And now, you can actually make a smaller, ukelele version of it by following the instructions in the video below from YouTube channel Make:.
A fair warning though: We know it's possible but please don't. It's a potentially ultra-hazardous project that can go horribly wrong.
