A 10-year friendship between two gamers just went south following a heated argument over popular multiplayer battle arena game Defense of the Ancients (DOTA) last week.
The brother of victim Ferdinand Madamba, Jr. said it was his brother who initially dared suspect Mark Pascual to a fistfight after the two trash-talked while playing DOTA, ABS-CBN News reports.
Madamba then proceeded to the computer shop where Pascual was staying and confronted him there.
It was not made clear how their confrontation unfolded but it ended up with Madamba succumbing to multiple stab wounds including some in his neck and stomach areas.
Authorities are searching for Pascual who is currently at large.
This is not the first time that an argument over DOTA led to gamers going violent on their friends.
A few years ago, a 16-year-old teenager was the primary suspect in the brutal killing of his 11-year-old friend after he accused the victim of hacking his DOTA account.
Scenes in computer shops like these are also commonplace.
So to all gamers out there especially to the DOTA players, just chill ‘cos there’s no respawn option in the afterlife after all.
