It's confirmed: The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced the one-week dry run of the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Lane along EDSA, starting on Monday, December 11.

Simply put, vehicles carrying at least three people (including the driver) will be allowed to pass through the fifth and leftmost lane, together with motorcycles. A P500 fine is waiting for those who will violate the rule via no-contact apprehension policy.

The bulletin, which has already been shared 2,470 times, was met with mixed reactions—mostly opposing—from netizens:

It all boils down to regulation

As with any law, discpline is key

The Reddit community also shared its thoughts on the HOV implementation:

Ano ba talaga, Kuya?

Start 'em (drivers) young

You do the math

The MMDA will need plenty of it
