Jennylyn Mercado is probably having a grand celebration at her home right now—complete with handaan and inuman, a few days early of Media Noche—to cap off a great 2015. At the start of the year, Jennylyn surprised everyone with a sizzling Tanduay calendar. In July, the FHM Nation voted her the Sexiest Woman in the Land; and at the recently concluded 41st Metro Manila Film Festival Awards Night, she won Best Actress for her lead role in Walang Forever.
Those accomplishments indeed call for a grand celebration.
So hear us say it: Jen, congratulations! While good things have happened, we say you are bound for greater things in the coming year. And we are, too. First off, this cover to ring in 2016:
Where does this charmer get her seemingly boundless charisma, you ask? Apart from the obvious, we say it’s from her ability to switch from being a funny girl in rom-coms to a serious actress on TV to a sexy cover girl effortlessly. When asked how she does it, Jen tells us that she’s built confidence and character through the years she’s been in the industry. “Embrace niyo kung ano talaga at kung sino kayo," she says. "Mahalin mo lang yung sarili mo tapos positive na ang laalabas mula sa'yo.”
Despite the awesomeness of our latest hook-up, this issue is bittersweet. While it is a celebration of one of our most beloved muses, the four-time FHM cover girl confirms that this is her last stint with us. “Hindi na rin ako bumabata, so bigay na natin sa mga mas deserving,” she says when asked why she’s breaking up with us already. Wala ngang forever. But Jennylyn says that doing FHM has been one of her best experiences. “Baring myself for the camera used to be one of my biggest fears, but after doing FHM…masasabi ko na naging tama ang desisyon ko.” Aww.
The feeling is mutual, Jen. Having you as our muse four times over is an experience of a lifetime. Thank you for sharing these grand moments to remember! Cheers to the year ahead!
Before we shed more man-tears, here’s a rundown of the surprises packed into our new issue: a look at the new sharing economy (aka Uber, Airbnb, Grab Taxi, etc.) and how it works Pinoy-style; a reunion with the country’s old-school comedians, and some serious life-coaching from them; an assessment of the Gentleman 2.0 (Hey, are we doing it better now than our dads and titos did back in the day?); and our take on the ground rules of sexual conduct. Also, we took the new Ford Focus for a test drive, and got chummy with FHM babes Mayumi Yokoyama and Lisa Dillon, to name a few.
It’s going to be a good year, FHM Nation! Here, take a peek at what went down in our last—but arguably the best—cover shoot with Jennylyn, the Sexiest. Hit the gallery below:
