It’s that time of the year again when John Lewis, a chain of department stores in Great Britain, releases their annual Christmas video advertisement.
It comes around every year, and every year the sole purpose seems to be to reduce us all to blubbering messes.
Their 2015 offering is no exception.
This one stars a small child and an elderly fellow who’s somehow got himself stuck on the moon, living in a little hut. Don’t ask us how. Don’t ask us about oxygen and things like that either. Let’s just roll with this.
Long story short, the small child sends a telescope to the man (again, magic), and they finally see each other at the end of the video. Cute, right?
Well, this year the John Lewis ad comes with a particularly strong message, in that they’ve partnered with Age UK, a large charity focused on helping the elderly, to help some of the million older people in the UK who will go for a month without speaking to anyone.
As expected, thanks to its power to make even the manliest of men shed a tear, the video is now making quite a buzz online.
