Did you feel the earth shake just when you were about last night (October 19)?
A Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) bulletin issued at 11:48 p.m. Monday evening confirmed that a magnitude 5.4 earthquake took place. The said tremor originated from Looc, Occidental Mindoro, and was felt in parts of the Southern Tagalog region (e.g. Batangas, Cavite, Laguna) and Metro Manila.

According to Phivolcs, no significant damage is expected to result from the quake, but aftershocks are a possibility.
Yet to recover from a still ravaging Typhoon Lando, the country was caught off guard by yet another force of nature. Good thing we Pinoys are a hardy bunch and, despite being left soggy or stuck on rooftops, are still able to find humor even in the direst of situations.

For one, prominent personalities good-naturedly described the earthquake and typhoon as apocalyptic.
The floods. Then, the earthquake. Prior to that, the invasion of candidates filing their CoCs. Are the End Times near?— Jim (@Jimparedes) October 20, 2015

The rest of the Twitterverse, meanwhile, was given a reason to sound off its best kept lindol-inspired #hugot lines:

Is there some sort of strange energy from the quake that triggered the release of our bottled-up bitter feelings?
At least we learned something important from all the shaking:
Despite Bagyo. Despite Lindol. #Shakeys still delivered under 40 minutes. For realz.— carlosceldran (@carlosceldran) October 19, 2015
But seriously, safety before social media updates, people!
