A man suspected of breaking into homes and stealing items in Legazpi City in the dead of night was caught on security cameras trotting along the streets of a subdivision while only wearing what appears to be a black brief.
The burglar, whose well-toned body sported tattoos, was seen peeking around the area at 3 a.m., ABS-CBN News reported.
An hour later, he was seen in another security footage of the same subdivision, but was now dressed in clothes which he most likely stole.
Resident Djai Tanji said the thief in briefs might be the person who stole her neighbor's electric drill. "May narinig kasi ako between 2 to 3 a.m. in the morning tapos footsteps lang actually... It was so dark nag-flashlight ako."
The Philippine National Police (PNP), for its part, explained that wearing minimal clothing during the crime has been a long-standing modus operandi of hooligans.
"Siyempre kung papasok ka sa lugar na magnanakaw ka eh di aalisin mo [ang damit mo] para naman hindi ka gaano makita. Ang iba naman para hindi ito maging sagabal sa pagpasok [sa mga masisikip na lugar]," Albay PNP Information Officer Superintendent Rommel Dela Rama said.
The PNP is already searching for the suspect whose tattoos make it easier for them to identify him.
Meanwhile, Tanji shared the incident online with photos that has already garnered nearly a thousand shares and over 1,600 likes as of writing.
