Have you heard the story of Lolo Lawrence Dy, the AlDub fan who, despite being a senior citizen, lined up for six hours just to buy tickets for the upcoming "Tamang Panahon" grand fans' day-charity event?
Well, no less than Maine Mendoza aka Yaya Dub of Eat Bulaga's hit kalyeserye sure did, and was impressed with his gesture, so she gave the lucky old-timer two VIP passes for him and his wife to enjoy the historic occasion.
Lolo Lawrence, meanwhile, got teary-eyed when asked for his message to Maine:
Every day we're reminded of the reasons why we love Maine, be it via that Monday to Saturday 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. slot, or the numerous commercials she and love team partner Alden Richards have raked in just a couple of months into stardom. And if that wasn't enough, we have her social media accounts—Facebook, Twitter, Instagram—that we unabashedly stalk whenever we miss her.
But it was just recently that we've been made conscious of another one of Maine's many endearing qualities: No matter how high her star has risen, the Dubsmash Queen has managed to keep her feet on the ground.
One can argue that a single incident, like that of Lolo Lawrence's, isn't enough to validate our claim, but it seems a handful of people have already experienced Meng's humility firsthand.
For example, the videos below show her unbridled willingness to accommodate her fans, notwithstanding her tight security:
Ito ang tunay na artista. Kahit sobrang sikat na hindi kailanman lumaki ang ulo, she always remember where she comes from. 👏👏 The Epitome of Humbleness. We're so proud of you Maine, really. 💋💘💘
Ako: Pwede pong pa-hug? Meng: Oo naman (sabay ngiti, labas dimple) She has a unique smile and very likeable personality. She's much better person than everybody think. She waved us farewell before running towards. Meng is totally an unarrogant artist. So much feels for this hugggg! I love you, Maine Mendoza. 💘💖💋
I just want to share this very inspiring moment to all AlDub fans. October 19, 2015, packed up na ang buong staff ng Juan for All, All for Juan. You know what? 👊👍💘💘Continue reading below ↓
Even her co-workers are raving about the country's oblivious fastest-rising star and her modest nature.
"She's very light to work with. I think, hindi pa nagse-settle sa kanya na sikat na siya, and I think it will never get to her head. She's very grounded. Parang conscious pa nga sa pagpapaganda eh," makeup artist Krist Bansuelo told GMA News of working with Maine.
You would really see na she has a good heart. Sabi nga nila, 'It's how you deal with people who have nothing to give you that determines your character.' She does not have an air of being a superstar in her."
In an interview with PEP.ph, Wally shared, "Minsan nakakalimot. Hindi pa talaga niya alam na sikat na siya. Walang PA. Siya ang may dala ng bag niya, kung anu-ano. Ilalapag diyan."
He even recounted one instance wherein their muse was completely unaware of the people's clamor for her: "Halimbawa, dito ang standby area, sa labas ang catering. Eh 'yung mga tao nasa labas, naghihintay. Nagkukuwentuhan kami, biglang may commotion. So kami, 'Ano 'yun? ano 'yun? Ay, si Yaya Dub, kumuha ng pagkain!' Siyempre, pinagkaguluhan siya."
Recently we came across this article by The Bitbag, which described Maine as an "anti-celebrity star," who is "beautiful without trying, talented without the experience, and whether she likes her current fame or not, she's definitely a superstar."
We couldn't agree more.
No wonder, like Alden, all we can do is—in the words of REO Speedwagon—"keep on loving you."
