In 2001, Google launched its highly ambitious “Google Earth” project, a venture that aims to create a digital version of our planet.

The program displays satellite images of varying resolutions of the Earth's surface, allowing users to see things like cities and houses at an oblique angle, otherwise known as a bird’s eye view.

Since Google Earth’s launch, people have been spending time discovering what the world looks like from above. You can check out almost every location on Google Earth, including the very secluded nation of North Korea, whose top-secret concentration camps were exposed by the program.

That, however, is not the strangest thing to have been spotted on Google Earth. Recently, according to a cyber-explorer named Scott Waring from the website UFO Sighting Daily, he may have just discovered the sea monster Kraken on Google Earth while scanning a place called Deception Island near Antarctica.

Through the use of the ruler in Google Earth, Waring estimates that the “creature” is about 30 meters or 100 feet “from head to end.”

“The end looks like just the mid area of a giant squid,” states Waring. “Which means it could be 60+ meters long with tentacles. That sounds like a Kraken to me.”

The Kraken is a legendary sea creature of giant size that originates from Norse mythology and is known to devour ships. Its sheer size and fearsome appearance attributed to it have made it a common sea-monster in various fictional works. In most of these adaptions, it resembles a giant squid or octopus.

Recently, the Kraken was depicted in two major Hollywood blockbuster films: Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man’s Chest (2006) and Clash of the Titans (2010).

What do you guys think? Is it the monster that swallowed Captain Jack Sparrow whole? Or is it just a huge rock?
