In a press conference in Malacañang on Tuesday, she revealed that Metropolitan Manila Development Authority General Manager Tim Orbos offered her the position.
Uson, who stated she will mainly promote the MMFF via social media, also said this was the right time to show support to the event which is now showcasing indie films instead of the usual mainstream box office hits.
In her column with the Philstar, Uson admitted that she had to think twice before accepting the position.
“I know that the people I will be working with does not share the same view with me, but I am glad that even if we don’t share the same opinion when it comes to politics, we found a common ground in improving the standards of Filipino films,” she said.
Uson is a staunch supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte who has been involved in various issues including the dissemination of fake news and her biased views against government critics.
