A few days ago, a team headed by Justice Secretary Leila de Lima raided a number of luxurious quarters owned by influential convicts inside the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa.

Among some of the things they saw: a hot tub, an air-conditioned office, a plasma television, refrigerators, gaming consoles, wads of cash, gold watches, and a life-size sex doll. No wonder the crime rate's up...life seems so much better inside! Obviously, Sec. de Lima wasn't pleased.

One prisoner, in particular, has an air-conditioned music studio inside. In fact, he shot a music video right inside his "prison cell," and it's all over YouTube.

Herbert Colanggo, a convicted robbery gang leader who has been serving his sentence since 2009, released the song "Pa'no 'Yon" earlier this year under Ivory Records. Yep, this guy belongs in the same record label as Maja Salvador!

Before you question his "artistry," know that Herbert's career as a recording artist is for real. He tied Richard Yap as the New Male Recording Artist of the Year at the 6th Star Awards for Music last September, and his album, Kinabukasan, has already reached platinum as of this writing. He even holds concerts inside Bilibid, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

But that's not the point, is it? Say, Herbert, where the hell did that music studio come from? "Mga donation po yun mula sa mga kaibigan, mga politicians, at lalo na sa aking uncle na congressman," he told reporters. He also claims that he has the Bureau of Corrections' approval, which makes the whole thing legit.

Akala mo lang 'yon, ser. Akala mo lang 'yon.
