Social media once again went abuzz after it was announced today that President Rodrigo Duterte has finally signed into law Republic Act 10931, which basically gives free tuition in state universities and colleges.
This comes after Duterte, on Wednesday, also signed three measures that provide free internet and extend both the validities of drivers’ licenses and Philippine passports.
But instead of being grateful and seeing this as a victory for the whole nation, some netizens bashed Aquino—a vocal member of the opposition—for being an epal politician. Now, netizens are having a petty argument on who actually deserves the credit: Duterte for signing the measure, or Aquino for pushing for it.
Truth be told, can’t we just all be happy that this measure got passed into law? Or how about just being glad for once that the administration and opposition worked together to pass this measure? Well, based on some of these comments we have a long way to go:
Naturally, Aquino is also spreading the good news on Twitter.
But someone’s always there to spoil the fun. *SMH*
Mocha Uson said in a now-deleted tweet: "Co author daw si Bam at si PRRD nag sign lang naman so credit goes to Bam. Ay tongak! San ba manggagaling ang budget?!?"
(Last time we checked, the government’s budget comes from our taxes.)
What we just said
But it doesn’t end with its passage
Perhaps we can start with this
Does it even matter?
We all win
These people are just grateful and we need more of this
