The North Korean missile test that the nuclear-capable country conducted on Wednesday was a failure, according to South Korea's defense ministry.
Apparently, the North’s missile exploded just a few seconds after being launched, CNN reports.
Not much information is out yet regarding North Korea's latest test launch but it comes after successfully firing four intermediate-range ballistic missiles earlier this month.
The earlier missile test was closely monitored by the world with some of the missiles landing dangerously near Japan's coast which has alerted other countries including South Korea and the United States.
Based on the launch, US experts concluded that North Korea has been making significant progress with its missile program.
In 2016, they conducted at least two nuclear tests and more missile launches which forced the United Nations to impose tougher economic and trade sanctions on the rogue state.
North Korea is reportedly aiming to build a missile system that will enable them to launch a nuclear warhead that can reach the US mainland.
The US for their part recently said through Secretary of State Rex Tillerson that they were not ruling out the possibility of a military action against North Korea if they continue with their provocative actions.
