According to GMA News, outgoing President Benigno Aquino III will impose a one-year ban on himself from commenting against President-elect Rodrigo Duterte’s incoming administration once he relinquishes his position on June 30.

PNoy Duterte

Aquino was also asked about his thoughts on Duterte’s controversial appointment of Mark Villar as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) secretary. He declined to comment, reported ABS-CBN News, saying that he never had a chance to work with the incoming secretary whose family also happens to have interests in the real estate industry.

But Aquino did say that he was expecting the members of the new administration not to forget their purpose while in government service. “So, can I just say na I am hoping that everybody remembers that what we are doing is for the country and that nobody loses track of 'yong: Why are you here? And that is to serve the people. At importante sana doon serve the people all the time at dapat walang question doon,” he said.

Aquino will end his six-year term on June 30, when Duterte is inaugurated at Malacañang Palace in the presence of 500 invited guests.
