Authorities have identified the remains of a man whose body showed signs of torture and was discovered wrapped in a garbage bag along the national highway in Cebu last week.

Police said the victim’s name was Jimmy Vosotros, a 48-year-old homosexual man who resides in Basak, Lapu-Lapu, Sunstar reported.

Vosotros’ body was found wrapped in a garbage bag and packaging tape around 4 a.m. on May 30.

Police found a rope around the victim’s neck and a piece of cloth was used to gag his mouth after removing the tape and bag.

He was also hogtied and was wearing women's clothes, including a bra and blouse.

A piece of paper was also found on the body which had “Tulisan Ko! DU30” handwritten on it in an apparent reference to President-elect Rodrigo Duterte.

However, San Fernando police station head Chief Inspector Richard Gadingan said it was unlikely that Vosotros was a thief based on their initial background check on the victim.

Authorities are still investigating the incident to determine possible suspects and the motive for the crime.
