FHM Nation, Pope John Paul II and Pope John XXIII, two of the most influential Catholic figures of the 20th century, have now been canonized into sainthood! Hallelujah!
"They lived through the tragic events of the century, but they were not overwhelmed by them," quips Pope Francis, who read the formal proclamation before hundreds of thousands of people at the Vatican's St. Peter Square last Sunday, April 27. "For them, God was more powerful; faith was more powerful—faith in Jesus Christ the Redeemer of man and the Lord of history."

We didn't understand a thing you said, dear Pope Francis, but we're pretty sure you're doing it right (as always!). These men had the lovin' of past and present generations, and they also deserve the lovin' of the generation that'll come after us. Pope John Paul II in particular spent the majority of his life advocating for the youth, and we think we know why: He was a total hipster back then!
Do you know what this means? This means the world just landed itself its first hipster saint! No, really. Look!
Have you ever seen a saint who wore shades? This would be a first, right?

Pope John Paul II would have garnered a thousand more hipster points had he sported a woodsman's beard.

He truly had a fondness for fancy eyewear. Hey Mr. Bono, you better not lose those sunglasses; it was once worn by a saint!

Seriously, a beanie and a pair of boat shoes? Don't get us wrong; the Pope looked nice in white cassock and a mozetta, but this was waaaay better.
