He was paying for the child's services
An elderly priest was nabbed last Friday night for trying to bed a minor during an entrapment operation.
Msgr. Arnel Lagarejos, who serves as the priest of the Parish of St. John the Baptist in Taytay, Rizal, was caught by authorities en route to a Marikina motel with a 13-year-old girl, the Inquirer reports.
The 55-year-old allegedly conducted a transaction with another minor to pay for the sexual services of the victim.
This wasn’t the first time though that Lagarejos paid for the child’s services. According to Marikina police chief Senior Supt. Roger Quesada, it would have been the third time the pair went to a motel if not for his arrest.
Quesada also said that Lagarejos allegedly paid the victim P2,500 during each of their prior meetings.
Due to this, he has been stripped of his duties in the parish and is currently facing a human trafficking case filed by the victim’s mother.
The Diocese of Antipolom, for its part, has already issued an official statement on the matter.
