Has your Tagalog improved since your turn as judge on Showtime?
Okay lang, ha ha! Actually, dati hindi ako marunong masyado sa Tagalog. When I arrived here I didn’t speak English. I learned English here. So my English is Filipino-English. Pero obvious naman na may Brazilian accent ako. Since Showtime I can say na more exposed na ako [sa Tagalog] and I kind of overcame my shyness about speaking Tagalog in front of a lot of people. That’s even though I know barok ang Tagalog ko, ha ha! Pero alam ko naman people appreciate my effort. I’m trying my best, I’m having classes, I’m still getting there.

Do you have any favorite word?
Oh no, ha ha! Medyo bad siya eh. It starts with “p” and ends with “ina.” That’s actually the first Tagalog word I learned. Kasi people, usually, when they step on something, or they get hurt, or they get inis at a situation, they always say that word. I really believe that I don’t pronounce that one wrong.

Do you blurt it out as often as most Pinoys do?
Hindi naman. I try to control it. Sa una lang cute, pero kung masyado medyo bad na.

Why haven’t we seen you in a telenovela or a movie yet?
Sana sa susunod. I’ve done as much as I could when it comes to modeling. So I feel very fulfilled in the modeling field. And the reason I started learning Tagalog is because I do eventually want to pursue an acting career. So kapag marunong na akong mag-Tagalog talaga I can be part of something like that. I actually have done an indie movie, Ika-Sampu. It’s a horror movie. I play the best friend of the lead female character. I haven’t seen it yet pero sabi nila maganda.

We consider you the preeminent Brazilian residing in our country. What do Filipinos need to know about Brazilian women?
Well, feeling ko lahat ng tao, they really think that Brazilian girls are malandi. Hindi naman, ha ha! Feeling ko, it’s because we’re a more open country in terms of society and culture than the Filipinos. Pero parehas lang naman ang Philippines and Brazil. But just because we love partying more, it doesn’t mean necessarily na malandi kami. We’re very family-oriented. A lot of people don’t know that about us.

Brazilian women are fast becoming the barometer for sexy.
We’re just very comfortable with our body. It’s mainly because of our weather, mainit talaga, just like in the Philippines. Because it’s very hot, we expose a lot of skin. And when you expose skin and you have a nice body, you’re thought of as sexy. But it doesn’t necessarily mean when you’re sexy, malandi ka.
