According to Albay Representative Edcel Lagman, he along with these groups and their sympathizers will push for the exhumation of the late strongman’s remains, the Inquirer reports.
“The petitioners in the Supreme Court (SC) are contemplating to file a motion to order the exhumation of what remains of Marcos which was precipitately and stealthily interred in the LNMB,” he said.
Lagman also said that if the move is approved, they would like to take the opportunity to have Marcos’ body—which was publicly displayed since his death 27 years ago—be examined by forensic experts.
Through this, he seeks to determine whether the body which is still unnaturally intact and lifelike, is actually Marcos’ remains or just a wax replica.
Earlier, Lagman questioned the hush and hurried nature of the burial especially since the SC’s ruling allowing it has not yet reached the 15-day period which will make it final and executory.
For his part, Sen. Koko Pimentel, whose father was a political prisoner during the martial law days, said the successor of the current administration in 2022 may simply choose to remove Marcos’ body from the LNMB if he or she shares their ideals.
The LNMB and Marcos’ grave is currently guarded tightly following several mass protests over the weekend denouncing the burial.
