Twenty days after his death scare, Dolphy, King of Comedy, finally succumbs to Multiple Organ Failure, July 10 at 8:34pm. He is 83 years old.

Twitter went abuzz around 830pm after Ruffa Gutierrez first tweeted about Dolphy's death. Conflicting reports soon flooded social media site. Everybody awaited confirmation. It finally came roughly 5 minutes later, from Dolphy's longtime partner Zsa Zsa Padilla.

Makati Medical Center issued a statement saying Mang Pidol died "due to multiple organ failure, secondary to complications brought about by severe pnemonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and acute renal failure."

While he had been in the hospital since June 9, the entire Philippines, it seemed, worried when the Quizon family announced that Dolphy was in critical condition on June 20. He had another bout of Pneumonia. His kidneys were malfunctioning. The family asked for prayers.

And pray the country did. We stormed the high heavens—via Twitter, it seemed—with prayers for the Man who made us all laugh. Everybody sent good vibes to his family. Thankfully gods heard. His conditions soon stablized, though he remained in the ICU. The Quizon family started preparing for his 84th birthday on July 25.

And then July 10 happened.

Dolphy's remains are now at the Heritage Park in Taguig. His body will be brought to ABS CBN compound. The wake will be opened to the public today, July 11 starting 9pm.

He will be brought back to the Heritage Park tomorrow July 12, where public viewing will be held from 8am to 3pm until Saturday, July 14.

We mourn the loss of a man who has managed to make us laugh and cry and think and feel. Thank you Tito Dolphy, for everything. We celebrate because you lived.
