Karl Roy is dead. The legendary frontman of bands Kapatid and POT died of a heart attack this morning, March 13 at 1:01am, reports Interaksyon. The news was announced by his sister, Kathryn Roy, via Facebook.
Roy was said to have suffered a stroke yesterday, March 12 and was rushed to the intensive care unit of the hospital, where he battled another heart attack. It proved fatal.
Roy first came to popularity in the early 90s with the band Advent Call. When he fronted the premiere funk band POT in the mid-90s, Karl Roy became a regular fixture in the PinoyRock scene. The band broke up and soon, he was doing vocals for Kapatid.
In 2008, friends threw a benefit concert for him, after having suffered from multiple strokes.
FHM is deeply saddened with the news. We offer our condolences and prayers to Karl Roy’s family. And we try to celebrate because Karl Roy lived. And if anyone, he lived to the fullest.
We can only console ourselves when we hear you sing this, Karl: “I know love will stick around/ ‘cause I’ve been lost and found.”
