This month's cover turnover is just like changing seasons.
As winter (as in the stunning Margo Midwinter) is about the end, we had to skip spring and immediately proceed to summer, as the current weather also strongly suggests.
And to help us with this sweltering transition, we sought out help from quite a familiar face. Let's just say you—along with all the people who voted for her as FHM Sexiest Woman in 2011 and 2012—wouldn't be disappointed upon learning who April's muse is...
Yes; you aren't seeing double. That is Sam Pinto, her bronze back arched against the backdrop of the soothing Boracay beach.
This is the third time we've worked with her (July 2010, December 2011), and just like the old times, the entire shoot was relatively seemless. Relatively because the crew, led by photographer Doc Marlo Pecjo, that worked with Sam felt how the sun's scorching rays demanded swift movement. The consummate professional that she is, our cover girl brushed it off and blew us away with impeccable shots.
To think our marvelous reunion wasn't even supposed to happen.
Sam admits, "I was like, 'No, no, no. I'm done with that whole sexy thing,'" during a conversation she had with a friend about posing again. "Because I didn't know that you guys were going to reformat that time. I was like, 'I'm okay na. I think I'm done.'"
Aside from fancying our new aesthetic direction, her decision to grace the magazine with her presence was bolstered by being able to lie low in the industry for a couple of years.
"It was a good break for me kasi parang napapagod din, just like a restart. At least now that I'm doing so many things again, I'm fresh again parang, 'Okay, I want to do this again.'"
Unlike other comebacking celebrities who try too hard to stay on the absolute top, Sam is quite satisfied as to where she is now in her career.
She says, "Honestly, I'm actually happy now, whatever's happening with me. Kung wala (nang mangyari), I have my backup Baler plan; I'll just live there. If I have work, that's when I go to Manila. On the other hand, if there's still work, okay, dito pa ako, push pa hanggang kaya pa."
In the meantime, while Sam is still (somewhat) within reach, join us in reveling in her essence, before she makes up her mind on finally settling in a far-flung beach somewhere.
The two-time FHM Sexiest Woman banners our red-hot issue, which also includes a dissection of Manny Pacquiao's last days as our Pambansang Kamao, an intimate chat with Ebe Dancel, and what came of our hunt for the local shoe game godfather.
FHM April 2016 will be available in supermarkets, convenience stores, newsstands, and bookstores nationwide starting tomorrow, April 1! (And that's not an April Fools' joke, mind you.)
You can score digital copies in the following days through the FHM app on Apple App Store (http://bit.ly/fhmphapple) and on Google Play (http://bit.ly/FhmPHandroid), Buqo, and the Summit Media Newsstand (http://bit.ly/fhmmagph)!
For the time being, you have to do with these choice photos from our rekindled love affair with Sam:
