Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III dismissed negative criticisms that their political party and presidential bet received from the public after Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte went on a kissing spree during their recent campaign trail in Pampanga.

Pimentel said Duterte and his female supporters were just having some good clean fun even as the feisty mayor smooched his way into them, the Inquirer reported.

“I think they were enjoying themselves, they were celebrating his visit to Pampanga,” the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) President said.

Pimentel added that the videos showing how the feisty mayor smooched his female supporters in a seemingly forced manner were incomplete and biased.

“I think people will be forgiving and understanding at tsaka the video and the photos do not tell the whole story,” he said.

Pimentel reasoned out that the female supporters Duterte kissed were actually lucky to experience something he likened to a once in a lifetime event.

“How many of our countrymen get the chance to be that near or close to a presidential candidate and the presidential candidate allows to kiss him?” he said.

Basta ang importante dito, wala pong malisya doon and these are his supporters by the way,” he added.

Duterte, who is PDP-Laban's standard-bearer and was recently named its new chair, is no stranger to publicly flirting during his campaign events.

Last November he was seen kissing his female supporters while they were sitting on his lap during an event in Taguig City.

The tough-talking mayor's detractors pointed out how he disrespected women to which he answered simply by admitting he was a womanizer with two wives and two girlfriends.

“If you can love your fellowmen, if you love the Filipino people—love enough to serve you and to die for you–how can I not love four women in my life?” he said.
