What first seemed to be a relatively calm second day of filing of Certificates of Candidacy (CoC) for the 2016 Elections was rocked by Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago's announcement of her intentions to run once again for president.

I first ran for president in 1992, against politicians who had at their disposal both money and machinery. I, on the other hand, only had the will of the people behind me. #ThrowbackThursday #MiriamFight

Miriam, who lost to Fidel Ramos during her first crack at presidency in 1992 and to Joseph Estrada in 1998, made the declaration during the book launch of her book, Stupid is Forevermore, earlier today (October 13).

"If I become president sometime in the very near future, this country will be much better that it was before. Today this country suffers from the malaise of plunder," she was quoted by several news outlets present at the event, almost a week after she hinted at a possible run in her Facebook page.

The 70-year-old senator, who said last July that she already "licked" her cancer and is eyeing the nation's top post, added, "I will run because I've already gotten over my bout of the cancer and there's nothing left to do. I think since I have served the government from the very beginning, I will end my career here."

Fans, especially netizens, rejoiced, evident with the hashtag "#Miriam2016" quickly snagging the top spot in local Twitter trends.

During the proclamation, Miriam was also asked about her running mate for vice president, whom she only alluded to with the following statement/clues:

"He has already announced. We will be running together.
I cannot give the answer because his wife might scold him."

Save for the head-scratching applicants during the first two days of CoC-filing, three names came to mind given the two conditions Sen. Miriam has cited: Senators Antonio Trillanes IV, Alan Peter Cayetano, and Bongbong Marcos.

FHM tries to decipher Miriam's clues and figure out who among the trio the feisty senator is the referring to:

ANTONIO TRILLANES IV

Spouse: Former Philippine Military Academy corps of professors member Arlene Orejana
Propensity for scolding:
5/5 — She's a pretty PMA-er who we assume can't be daunted even by the toughest of soldiers. Also, Sen. Sonny's pretty used to taking orders. We're not saying she bosses him around, but you get our point...

The senator, who earlier expressed support for presidentiable Grace Poe, has a rather colorful history with Sen. Miriam. We all know of Miriam's admiration for the 44-year-old former Navy Lieutenant Senior Grade, describing him as the "most handsome of the senators" in a 2011 speech.

The two were also among the top three senators who filed the most number of bills and resolutions in the Senate (as of June this year), with Miriam filing a total of 1,324, despite most of the time being in sick leave. Trillanes is at third place with 344, after Sen. Jinggoy Estrada's 642 bills and resolutions.

So how does a Santiago-Trillanes team-up sound?

ALAN PETER CAYETANO

Spouse: Taguig City Mayor Maria Laarni "Lani" Lopez Cayetano
Propensity for scolding:
4/5 — Being a woman in power, Mayor Lani isn't one to be overwhelmed by Sen. Miriam's rep. At the end of the day though, Alan will take the hit.

He might've been quite vocal about his preference to run alongside Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, but after Manong Rody announced for the nth time that he has no intentions of taking part in the 2016 free-for-all (although we feel like he's not so sure yet), a Santiago-Cayetano pairing seems a reasonable tandem if you consider some of the two senators' similarities.

Miriam and Alan are both in opposition to the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL), the latter even deeming it unconstitutional. The two could also utilize their respective huge online followings, being the top two most followed senators on Facebook. Miriam, the "social media rock star" that she is, leads the pack with a whopping 3,144,808 followers while Alan comes in at a relatively distant second with 973,259.

FERDINAND 'BONGBONG' MARCOS, JR.

Spouse: Atty. Louise "Liza" Araneta Marcos
Propensity for scolding: 2/5 — Will be more of a verbal tussle, which might end in favor of Atty. Liza and her sound arguments.

The son of former President Ferdinand Marcos has begun his quest to return to Malacañang by formally filing his certificate of candidacy for vice president today.

Santiago-Marcos, why not? The two definitely had gotten on the same page several times in the past.

Last year, Miriam and Bongbong both called for a Senate probe on the alleged overpriced bunkhouses for Typhoon Yolanda survivors. They, alongside the late Sen. Joker Arroyo, also did not vote for the impeachment of former Chief Justice Renato Corona.

Like Cayetano and Santiago, Marcos also rebuffed Malacañang’s version of the BBL.

So, who's it gonna be ma'am?
