One of the suspects accused of raping two women in a colorum UV Express van last week was gunned down by cops after allegedly trying to escape from his arresting officers.

The suspect, identified as Alfie “Buddy” Turado, who was restrained with handcuffs allegedly tried to grab a gun from one of the cops guarding him as they were in transit, ABS-CBN reported.

This resulted to him being shot in the neck and chest. Turado was rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center but was declared clinically dead around 4 a.m. on Friday.

Turado was initially arrested on Friday midnight with the help of officials of Barangay Obrero in Quezon City who pinned him down and asked the police for assistance.

He admitted being with the other suspect, Wilfredo Lopez, during the crime but denied any involvement, claiming he was also a victim. Turado said that Lorenzo held him at gunpoint while he was driving the van when the crime was committed.

His remains are still in the East Avenue Medical Center.

Turado’s death comes a day after the victims asked President-elect Rodrigo Duterte to kill the suspects.
