A CCTV footage taken along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City on March 7 recorded a taxi speeding off a flyover while a traffic constable hung precariously on its hood.
The video showed Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) constable Roland Perez desperately hanging on for dear life as the taxi tried to lose him by zigzagging, GMA News reported.
Perez managed to hold on for a few seconds but eventually fell off the hood. He landed flat on the road and appeared injured.
Fortunately, he was not run over by oncoming vehicles and was immediately assisted by a motorcyclist who pulled over.
Perez was rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center where he received first aid treatment and underwent tests.
Meanwhile, his wife went to the Land Transportation Franchising & Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to file a complaint against the taxi driver, identified as Ramon Talan.
“’Yung pag-aayos ng civil liability, assuming naayos ay hindi nangangahulugan na wala na siyang pananangutan sa batas,” LTFRB Board member Ariel Inton said.
Inton added that they will summon the operator of the taxi driver and file a recommendation to either suspend or revoke Talan’s license.
