We’re only a few hours away from arguably the biggest game ever played on Philippine soil!
The NBA Global Games-Philippines, happening today (Thursday, October 10) at the MOA Arena, also marks the first time an NBA game will be played in Southeast Asia. Sure, it’s just a pre-season affair, but we reckon no one really cares if this one turns out to be just a glorified scrimmage between the Houston Rockets and the Indiana Pacers. The N-frigging-B-A is in Manila, bro!The basketball gods really love us Pinoys!
We expect nothing but fireworks come the 7:30 p.m. tip-off time. We’re bet there’ll be a handful of basketball junkies who’ll either be in costumes, covered in paint, and/or trying their darndest to catch the attention of their NBA idol. Prepare for an abundance of selfies on your Facebook and Instagram feeds!
But while we wait for the festivities to commence, we collected some of the juiciest tidbits from the two-day media accessibility sessions (click here to view the full gallery). Call us tsismoso, but we thought you’d want every interesting detail we’ve learned about these NBA players before you troop to the MOA Arena—or, let’s be serious here, plonk your ass on a couch.
For example, wouldn’t you want to know if the Pacer’s Paul George is worried about getting fewer touches now that fellow scorer Danny Granger is back with the team? Or if Rockets’ big man Dwight Howard is still bothered about what happened between him and the Lakers last season? And why is Dwight asking where he could find a bus-renting service? Or why does Larry Bird refuse autographs and “pa-selfie naman” requests?
