On Saturday, July 11, 2009, the UAAP Season 72 opening ceremony at the Araneta Coliseum will mark the launch of yet another round of intense and action-packed college sporting events. From the scream-filled arenas of basketball games to the quiet intensity of chess matches, UAAP Season 72 promises a world of emotions for its eight member schools.

With the theme “One Color. One Goal,” the goal is to promote unity amongst the schools, says this year’s host, Far Eastern University. The Sarimanok, taken from FEU’s coat-of-arms has also been chosen as Season 72’s symbol, so as to reflect the sentiment of unity and camaraderie. With its colorful wings representing all the participating universities, and its beautiful and magical attributes, the Sarimanok hopes to take flight, and ignite the heart of competition, and inspire student-athletes and students alike.
