First off, let us greet the second most powerful man in the land a happy 72nd birthday! Saan po ang pakain, Vice President Jejomar Binay?

Unfortunately, we know he's just going to ignore us the veep's not having the bestest of birthdays today, no thanks to the current controversy he and his family are currently in. So we're not going to make kulit anymore and add to the corruption allegations, which includes that P2 billion parking building in Makati and that 350-hectare property in Rosario, Batangas, that we bet are making his brain go numb.

But as if all those weren't enough to cast a dark shadow over VP Binay's birthday, we learned earlier today that he has backed out of an upcoming debate with Senator Antonio Trillanes IV. Their verbal tussle was supposed to happen on November 27 and, hopefully, would have shed light on the issues involving the Binay family.

In an interview with radio station DZMM, the Vice President gave this reason for his withdrawal: "Ang dahilan ko, mga kababayan, ay dahil marami na akong naririnig. Na siya ay ganito, ako ay mahusay, ako ay debater, ako ay abogado, e hsobra na ang mga salitang ganyan, na kumpirmadong sinabi niya (Trillanes). Eh ayoko naman po yung pagkakakila ninyo sa akin, mga kababayan, ay mapang-api, mapagsamantala."

Here's the thing: The veep's camp was the one who challenged Sen. Trillanes to the said debate. And then he backed off. Understandably, the senator is not amused. "That's the lamest excuse you can get from anyone. For someone like him na gustong-gustong bumawi, that was the best opportunity to put me in my place," Senator Trillanes said in an interview with ANC.
