Despite his tough public image, President Rodrigo Duterte has shown that he has a soft spot for children.

During a courtesy call on Tuesday, the president's Filipino-British fan, four-year-old Ethan Richmond, finally met his idol at the Malacañang Palace.

Duterte, who has been extremely busy since assuming office and now has little time for his family and grandchildren, greeted Ethan and carried him.

They then posed for the cameras while making the Duterte fist, his winning campaign symbol.

"This is Ethan my friend and we're good friends," he said.

The two then engaged in playful chitchat, and even played peek-a-boo.

Ethan is best known for a video of him pretending to talk to Duterte in a phone call and asking him to get rid of the bad guys and put them in jail.
