The love month is here. That should either remind you of your ongoing single blessedness or that you only have a couple of weeks to whip something up for your special someone. To take your mind off those things, here’s what you can do this weekend.

These two rivals always put on a good show


The PBA Blue Vs. Green: Dream Game 2012 happens on February 5, 6 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Cubao, Quezon City. PBA players leave their professional teams for the meantime as they represent their respective alma maters in an exhibition game that’s sure to be intense. Norman Black leads the Ateneo team with players including Rabeh Al-Hussaini, Noy Baclao, JC Intal, Rico Villanueva, and Doug Kramer. Guiding the green squad is Franz Pumaren led by a roster that includes Mike Cortez, Willie Wilson, Renren Ritualo, Joseph Yeo, and TY Tang, amongst a few.

Tickets are at P1,200 for Patron A, P1,000 for Patron B and Lower Box A, P750 for Patron C, Lower Box B, and Lower Box C, P350 for Upper Box A, P200 for Upper Box B, and P50 for General Admission.

So we learn that February is Philippine German Month—Did you know that? Abunch of stuff is happening to celebrate the event. The first of which happens tonight, Friday, at the Paco Park in Manila. Be there at 6 PM and catch performances by vocalist Eudy Palaruan accompanied by guitarist Ferdinand Medina, and the Basunistas Pilipinas.

The Fridays after that are loaded too. On the 10th, you get to catch pianist, Alejandro Consolacion II accompanied by flautist, Tony Maigue. February 17 brings you Soprano Minette Padilla and pianist Aries Caces performing classical pieces from Mozart, Beethoven, along with  compositions of Filipino legends F.Buencamino and E. Cuenco. pianist Leonor Kilayko will perform German classics at Paco Park. Pianist Leonor Kilayko is the last one to catch as he performs German classics on the 24th.  All of these concerts will be held at Paco Park.

Another concert will be happening on February 23 at the Philamlife Theater in Manila, 6 PM. Under the spotlight on that night is celebrated chamber musician Professor Rolf Dieter Arens, a soloist for the Berlin Symphony Orchestra from 1986-1991, who has also played with famous conductors such as Kurt Masur, Herbert Blomstedt and Neville Marriner.

German cinema will also be a part of the festivities as the Rizal Park Open-Air Auditorium hosts acclaimed German films on Saturdays and Sundays of the month, at 7 PM.
