What made you say yes to finally be on our cover?
To be honest, it was a long process bago ako nag-yes. At first andun ang hesitation ko kasi iniisip ko ang mga followers kong bata. But after the talks and brainstorming with the team, I finally decided to say yes. Plus, we came up with a sporty peg kaya rin ako pumayag. And alam ko na matutuwa ang mga supporters ko pag nakita nila ako sa cover.
Ang lakas ng fans mo sa’yo, they were able to convince you to do this!
Yes, para makita rin nila ang other side of RAD as a model.
Did you ever think you’d get this sort of following when you entered the volleyball scene?
Not really. My first thought upon trying out for the college volleyball team was to help out my family. Malaking bagay na papasok ako as a varsity player, siyempre. Secondly, I wanted to develop my skills in the sport. High school na lang kasi ako nakasali sa volleyball team, and I wasn’t even in the first six most of the time. Gusto kong maging magaling na professional athlete someday. Yun yung naging motivation ko, kaya rin siguro I got to where I am today.
So no practice-first-play-later rules in the house growing up?
Wala naman. Though my parents really made sure I had a chance to try everything at least once—taekwondo, swimming, volleyball. They enrolled us in sports clinics growing up, para rin siguro may chance kami to discover what we’d eventually love.
But were you never introduced to the arts? Painting, maybe?
Nag-teatro ako nung high school, tsaka dancer din ako nun! Ha ha!
Interesting. Now people would want to see you bust moves.
You won’t see me dance in public. For one, I don’t party. That’s another side of me na hindi alam ng marami.
